This Is Our

#NFPadventure

about

We are the NFPadventure team. Three 20-something's, finishing up college and trying to figure out our lives. Sound familiar? In partnership with NFP, we drove across the country, visiting universities and speaking with students about their hopes, dreams, and career anxieties in hopes of sparking an ongoing conversation about the future workforce.

Now, we're making a podcast about it. We're talking to you, the college student who feels like they need to have it all figured out. And to you, that company that is trying to figure out what in the world is going on in these millennials' brains. We are #NFPadventure. Roadtrippers with a purpose.

Taylor Benson

The Seasoned Vet

Whether it's serving in the Marines in the Middle East, driving across New Zealand, or trekking across Alaska, Taylor has seen more miles than many people will in their lifetimes. But a good adventurer is nothing without his storytelling abilities, and Taylor definitely has them.

Taylor, a Charleston native, is entering his final year at the University of South Carolina.

The story

After spending the summer in California, Taylor and Clayton were ready to pack up and get back to school for their final year of college. The only problem was that Taylor and Clayton go to school 2500 miles away, in South Carolina, and neither of them had cars (or plane tickets, for that matter).

But for these two savvy business students, this wasn't a problem for too long. What they lacked in transportation, they made up for in the form of an idea. The duo formed a mutually

beneficial relationship with NFP involving a cross-country back-to-school road trip. The next day, Taylor and Clayton were hitting the road in their newly rented Chevy Malibu. They picked up Julia from Denver and threw her in the back seat before kicking off the project at University of Colorado - Boulder.

The Mission

Taylor, Clayton, and Julia are road trippers with purpose. Stopping at eight universities across the country, they engaged a spectrum of students in conversation about their perceptions of the job market and their career ideals. The trio set out with the hope of sparking conversation about how a career can be an adventure - filled with passion and excitement. It doesn't have to be scary and it doesn't have to be boring! Are you buying it?

About

The final product

The finish line may have been the University of South Carolina, but the project did not end there. In collaboration with NFP, the trio are currently releasing an 8-episode miniseries podcast covering everything from career counsel to college campus comparisons. They break down the campuses visited, insights gained, and valuable mentorship sessions. The podcast also comes with a guarantee that you'll laugh out loud, courtesy of local story teller Taylor Benson. If you're lucky, there will even be a few bloopers and embarrassing car jam sessions mixed in. More than anything, though, it's guaranteed to challenge your perceptions of post-graduate opportunity.

Why nfp?

You may be wondering... why NFP? Well, NFP isn't your average financial corporation. They're big, but they're willing to engage - as exemplified by their willingness to work with us on this project. They're willing to be creative with a purpose. Not only are they willing to open the conversation to students, but they are pushing that conversation toward something positive, productive, and motivational. They're down for the adventure.
